Claudia Lucia LAMANNA graduated in harp at only 15 years old with maximum honors “cum laude” at the Conservatory of Music “Nino Rota” of Monopoli, Italy where, two years later, she achieved the “Second-cycle Academic Degree in Harp Solo” with maximum honors “cum laude” and Honorable Mention, resulting, thereby, the youngest graduate of Italy, officialized recognition by decision of the Italian TAR (Regional Administrative Court). She is further improved her musical studies through the project “Erasmus”, with Jana Boušková, at the Koninklijk Conservatorium of Brussels, Belgium. She is currently studying with Isabelle Perrin, after having passed the selections for admission to the “Artist Diploma” (Master Program) at the Norges musikkhøgskole (Norwegian Academy of Music) of Oslo, Norway. In addition, she took part in masterclasses with Bernard Andrès, Jana Boušková, Gabriella Dall'Olio, Elisabeth Fontan-Binoche, Alice Giles, Andrew Lawrence-King, Isabelle Moretti, Isabelle Perrin, Luisa Prandina and Florence Sitruk.

In spite of her young age, she has already achieved successes and rewards in several national and international festivals and competitions, receiving first prizes, special prizes of music criticism and scholarships, including the Scholarship “Orazio Fiume”, an award established every two years by the Fiume family, to honor the memory of the Italian Composer, and the Scholarship “Valter Cococcia”, that rewards the youngest and best graduate in the Italian Conservatories every year. Among the competitions reserved only for harp, in 2008 she won the First Prize at the “Giovani Arpisti in Concerto”, held in Milan; in 2010 she was the first Italian finalist at the “Wales International Harp Festival”, held in Caernarfon, Wales; in 2012 she won the First Prize at the “Thailand International Harp Festival and Youth Competition”, held in Bangkok, as well as the Trophy offered by Her Royal Highness the Queen of Thailand; in 2013 she won the Second Prize “à l'Unanimité”, in the “Excellence” section, at the “Concours Francais de la Harpe”, held in Limoges, France; in 2015 she won the Second Prize at the “harpACademy International Harp Competition” in Sandstedt, Germany; in the same year, she won the First Prize at the “Premio Claudio Abbado – XI edition of the Premio Nazionale delle Arti”, established by the Miur (Ministry of Education, University and Research) and held in Turin, Italy.

Repeatedly interviewed by the local press, she has also appeared in the renowned US magazine “World Harp Congress Review”, the French newspaper “Ouest France”, the online magazine “Harpblog”, the Italian periodical “NelMese” and newspaper “La Gazzetta del Mezzogiorno”. Moreover, she performed frequently for national (“RAI Radiotelevisione Italiana” – “Rai 1” and “Rai 3”) and private television channels (“Puglia Channel”, “Canale 7”, “Telenorba”). She has also appeared on “France 3” and she was interviewed by the Chinese broadcaster “Xinhua News Agency” and by radio stations, the Italian “Idea Radio” and the Australian “SBS radio”.

Claudia gives several concerts both as soloist and in harp ensembles, chamber music and orchestra. She has recorded, as a member of the “Orchestra Italiana di Arpe”, the CD “Poker per 50 arpe” and in chamber music for the television broadcaster Tv2000. At age of 15, she performed the “Concerto KV 299 for Flute, Harp and Orchestra” by W. A. Mozart and the “Concerto in B flat major for Harp and Orchestra” by G. F. Händel/M. Grandjany. She has collaborated, as Principal Harpist, with various orchestras, including the Orchestra of the Conservatory “Nino Rota” of Monopoli, the Youth Symphony Orchestra “The SarroMusici”, the Orchestra “San Leucio”, the Ensemble ‘05, the Orchestra of the Norges musikkhøgskole of Oslo, the Oslo Camerata. In chamber group, she was on tour in Monopoli, L'Aquila, Rome and Naples, invited by the “Istituto Nazionale per lo Sviluppo Musicale nel Mezzogiorno” (“ISMEZ”). In addition to numerous concerts and recitals already held in many places in Italy, including Bari, Foggia, Lecce, Taranto, Matera, Potenza, Cosenza, Rome, Trieste, Turin, she played several times abroad, as in Portugal, France, Hungary, Spain, Belgium, Norway. She was invited to give recitals in Ancenis, France, during the final evening of the “Festival International de harpe” in 2012, and in Caernarfon, Wales, at the “Wales International Harp Festival” in 2014. She also performed in 2011 at the WHC in Vancouver, Canada, and in 2014 at the WHC in Sydney, Australia. On both occasions, Claudia was the only Italian to participate in the “Focus on Youth” concert serie.

As winner of the last edition of the “Thailand International Harp Festival and Youth Competition”, she will give a recital in Bangkok in August 2016.
