Omtale

Om konserten

On Saturday March 14th at 5 pm you are most welcome to attend an exciting chamber music recital with cellist Ingvild Nesdal Sandnes and pianist Berit Billingsø. The concert is named  Barren Landscapes, reflecting some of the contrasting atmospheres emerging in Dmitri Shostakovich’s and Marcus Paus’ magnificent cello sonatas. Most of us know Shostakovich, while Paus is one of the foremost composers of Norway today. He wrote his tonal and engaging cello sonata in 2009, and the piece has been performed by only one other duo so far. The composer himself has mentioned Shostakovich as a great inspirational source in his work, and it is therefore interesting to hear the two cello sonatas in the same concert.

Sandnes and Billingsø both have master’s degrees from Norwegian Academy of Music. They have been performing together since 2007. Sandnes and Billingsø have played numerous concerts and attended several chamber music master classes in Norway and abroad. The duo has built up a broad repertoire reaching from Beethoven to contemporary composers, and has received good reviews from both audiences and the press.
