The seminar marks the launch of a special issue of the International Journal of Community Music in which Nordic music educators and researchers explore the significance of the field of community music in the Nordic music educational context.

Participants are invited to discuss, alongside with the authors and editors of the journal, how the concept of community music fit into existing practices in the musical and music educational landscape of the Nordic countries, and how the field of community music can challenge us to rethink these practices.

Keynote speech

Professor Lee Higgins, York St John University, UK, will deliver a keynote speech:

(Re)defining the world of community music in the 21st Century

Lee Higgins is the Director of the International Centre of Community Music and senior editor for the International Journal of Community Music.
