Program

Omtale

The lyrics of the songs to be premiered come from contemporary poets from France and Spain and one has been composed on a poem by Olav Hauge. For a better understanding of the Spanish poems, some will be sung in Norwegian. These songs are the hook to bring to the audience some other vocal music from Spain. For example, a song cycle with poems by the Spanish Nobel Prize Juan Ramón Jiménez, composed by Lorenzo Palomo, born in 1939. He worked in the Deutsche Oper as répétiteur. Probably, this cycle has never been listened before in Norway.

The rest of the program is a selection of famous zarzuela romanzas (operetta arias in Spanish style). The Norwegian sopranos will sing some well known romanzas, alone and in duet, with the Spanish tenor. A concert to enjoy a small selection of the Spanish music made today and a century ago.
