The Diploma Supplement (DS) is based on a model developed by the European Commission, Council of the European Union and UNESCO/CEPES. The purpose of the supplement is to provide adequate, objective information in order to improve international understanding, and to ensure a just academic and occupational approval of the qualifications (academic certificates, degrees, diplomas etc.).
The Diploma Supplement (DS) is issued in English and provided with the degree diploma. It gives a detailed description of the programme of study, the qualifications attained by a candidate, the grading scheme, and of the higher education system in Norway.
It has a general section with details about the national higher education system, and a section identifying the holder of the qualification, and information about the qualification's level and function, the contents and results gained, a certification of the supplement, plus any additional information. The DS document is followed by a Transcript of Records which is provided on an additional page.
Will I get a Diploma Supplement?
All students who have completed a degree at the Norwegian Academy of Music, will receive a Diploma Supplement enclosed with their diploma and transcript. This applies primarily to students who have completed Bachelor's and Master's degrees.
Students who have completed other courses or programmes, such as a 1-year unit of 30 or 60 credits (ECTS), and have not earned a degree will not receive a diploma or the Diploma Supplement. For units which are not part of a degree, course certificates are provided as documentation of completion.
Requesting a Diploma Supplement
When a diploma is issued to students who have completed a university degree, a Diploma Supplement will automatically be issued and enclosed. The Diploma Supplement provides a detailed description of the holder's education and of the higher education system in Norway. The Diploma Supplement is free of charge.
