Programme Description

This is a one-year programme intended for applicants with a background in classical music. The programme is suited for graduates who wish to further develop their performance skills; concentrate on a particular repertoire; prepare for auditions/competitions; or undertake an in-depth independent study of a specific performance-related subject.

To enrol you must possess a Bachelor degree or international qualification of an equivalent standard. In addition to the formal requisites, all applicants must audition. The One-Year Graduate Performance Diploma may be recognized as the first of two years of the Master of Music Performance. Applicants applying for this option must audition again. It's not possible to start from the beginning of the Master of Music Performance after completing The One-Year Graduate Performance Diploma.

Students of orchestral instruments admitted to the programme can apply for internships at the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra and the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra. There is a separate audition for the internship and students accepted will receive a scholarship of NOK 10,000 for each of the six annual projects (NOK 60,000 in total). Application to the internship must be submitted together with the application for studies.

The programme comprises

  • 45 ECTS credits in Performance subjects (or other relevant subjects)
  • 15 ECTS credits in elective courses
