This programme starts with clarity and precision in Rameau, where every gesture is defined, and continues through early harp repertoire (Sonata), where this control is tested within a new instrument. In works by Caplet, Cras and Ravel, the surface becomes less stable: textures open, lines dissolve, and the sound becomes more exposed. The harp is no longer only clear or decorative, but fragile, tense, and unpredictable. In my original work, this process is not resolved, but observed – as something that continues to change beneath what is heard.
Under the Surface
Harpist Maria Bubnova plays her final recital.
