Course description
The course is open to classical singers.
The course is project-based and carries a workload of 2 ECTS per project. Admission to the course is based on an audition. Auditions typically take place at the end of May for the following academic year.
Ensemble practice in the Norwegian Soloist Choir (DNS) cannot replace other mandatory courses, such as chamber choir, chamber music, or any other ensemble courses.
Students enrolled in the course participate in up to four projects with the choir during one academic year. The projects in which the practice will take place are agreed upon between DNS and the student. Registration of participation occurs at the end of the academic year.

Learning objectives
Upon completion of the course, students are expected to
- have knowledge of the work in a professional choir
- possess vocal and ensemble technical skills required to sing in a professional choir
Overview
The students participate in the repertoire planned for the specific projects.
Each student shall have a mentor among the permanent singers in the Norwegian Soloist Choir, but otherwise participates on an equal footing with the permanent singers
Structure
The projects follow the Norwegian Soloist Choir's rehearsal schedule. Rehearsals for one project is normally equivalent to one week workload. The rehearsal period may include weekend rehearsals.
The audition can be organized as follows:
- The student prepares a solo song
- The student is tested in prima vista
- The student is tested in ensemble singing, alongside singers from the Norwegian Soloist Choir
Scores for ensemble singing repertoire will be made available to the student one week before the audition.
Course requirements
All rehearsals associated with the projects, in which the student participates, are mandatory.
Final assessment
All course requirements must be approved for the student to receive final assessment.
The student is assessed in relation to the course objectives. Final assessment is expressed as pass/fail and is based on an individual assessment of the student's academic level throughout the course
