Creatures Among Us

Join us for an enchanting evening as three young musicians—Siiri Ylijoki, Nina Vinther, and Freja Arendt—come together to present "Creatures Among Us," a unique chamber music concert celebrating the intricate world of insects, birds, and their habitats.

Siiri Ylijoki

This concert features a diverse selection of classical repertoire, songs in several languages, and solo pieces for oboe and piano.

Through this performance, we will delve into the emotions, stories, and mythologies that these small yet significant creatures evoke. The carefully curated program includes works such as Maurice Ravel's (1875–1937) "Histoires naturelles," alongside music by Jean Sibelius (1865–1957), Béla Bartók (1881–1945) and Jean Coulthard (1908–2000). This eclectic mix highlights the rich variety of creatures that have inspired music throughout the centuries.

Each musician brings a unique background and perspective to the ensemble. Siiri and Freja are completing their master's studies at the Norwegian Academy of Music (Norges musikkhøgskole), while Nina has already finished her studies at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. This concert also serves as part of Freja and Siiri's master's project at NMH.
