The Secrets of the Membrane

-

As part of the research project in artistic research, The Vibrating Drum at NMH in Oslo, Ingar Zach has invited the musicians Etienne Nillesen (prepared snare drum) and Riccardo La Foresta (drummophone) to a collaboration.

Steve Bauch, Konrad Gustawski, Ingo J. Biermann

Presentations of the three artistic projects followed by conversations and questions/answers are open to students and staff at NMH as well as to musicians and other interested parties.

The focus of this project will be on co-creation centred around the membrane's inherent sounding possibilities when it is set into vibration using various objects and techniques. The three performers will demonstrate their different approaches and show how to create unique works using different methods of listening, improvisation, musicking and construction. The session will be documented by the German filmmaker Ingo J. Biermann and be part of the documentation of Ingar Zach's research project.
