Karoline Asskildt: Music therapy and music interventions in post-stroke rehabilitation

Can music-interventions in rehabilitation lead to improved function following a stroke?

Field of study: Music Therapy/Music and Health

Summary

An increasing amount of international research indicates that music interventions and music therapy can be a resource in post-stroke rehabilitation. Less has been done in this area in a Norway context, and the overall aim of the project is to design a pilot and feasibility study that will investigate the use of music interventions in post-stroke rehabilitation in Norway. A systematic review with meta-analysis and narrative synthesis will map the effect of music interventions in post-stroke rehabilitation.

The results will inform the development of a pilot- and feasibility study that aims to explore what could be an optimal approach to using music interventions in post-stroke rehabilitation in a Norwegian context.
