Opera Sem­in­ar

Course description

In this course, students participate in opera and musical projects. The course is coordinated with SCEBEV20.

Learning objectives

Upon completion of the course, students are expected to

  • have acquired basic knowledge in creating opera characters and characters for musical theatre
  • be skilled in ensemble singing and acting

Overview

The course includes:

  • Musical and scenic preparation for opera and musical projects.
  • Two opera or music theatre projects, normally one week each semester, where understanding characters and portraying them on stage is emphasised.

Structure

The course is normally organised and taught as projects in a group consisting of third-year and fourth-year students. Movement instruction is linked to projects.

Two opera or musical theatre projects of approx. one week are organised each year, usually on a project per semester.

Students have registered automatically for instruction/supervision and assessment in the course in accordance with the study progress requirements set out in the individual education plan.

Course requirements

Attendance and participation in class and projects are compulsory.

Final assessment

All coursework requirements must be approved prior to obtaining a final assessment.

Student assessment is based on the learning objectives. The final assessment will be given as a pass/fail mark, which will be determined by the course instructor based on each student’s level of achievement throughout the course period.

New assessment

Students who fail must retake the course.
