For his master's project jazz guitarist Bjarni Már Ingólfsson is exploring the musical and textural possibilities of writing for an ensemble featuring two electric guitarists. This uncommon instrumental setting offers the opportunity for the composer to explore and utilize possibilities of the guitar that can not be achieved with only one instrument.
As a composer Bjarni Ingólfsson is simultaneously forward looking while maintaining a connection to the warm melancholy of Icelandic music, drawing inspiration from the ever evolving and rhythmically intense music of the modern New York jazz scene as well as the lineage of ECM artists spanning from the 70s to the 2000s.
