Divided in II

Divided in II is a concert split into two parts, featuring both a premiere, freshly established ensembles and improvisation.

Andrej Grilc

The first part features compositions for solo cello written in the 21st century and is characterised by a polyphonic confrontation between different instrumental, and gestural styles. Inspired by Luciano Berio’s Sequenza XIV, the programme includes other pieces that introduce to the audience a new understanding of virtuosity and the role of a cello and performer nowadays.

The second part features the premiere of Piano Quintet No. 1, composed by Urban Megušar, followed by a performance of a newly formed improvisation ensemble, presenting compositions based on causality, experimental techniques, unusual sounds and meta counterpoint.
