In C

During the start-up week's ensemble project, the new students have rehearsed the piece "In C", by the American composer Terry Riley (1935–).

It is an iconic work in classical contemporary literature and is considered one of the first pieces in the minimalist style. "In C" was written in 1964 and has since been interpreted and performed by numerous artists across various genres.

The piece consists of 53 short musical phrases, each of which is repeated arbitrarily, with a high degree of individual freedom, by the musicians in the ensemble. The piece has no fixed duration, and the composer does not specify a fixed instrumentation or the number of musicians who should play. In other words, it sets the stage for yet another unique performance when the Academy's new pop-rock-jazz-free-classical-folk students, with their fiddles, electric guitars, clarinets, and trumpets, offer yet another new interpretation under the direction of Kjell Tore Innervik and John Vinge. Performers from the Oslo Sinfonietta also participate.
