When should I take electives?
Most students at NMH have electives in their second module and in their second year of master.
You can find the amount of credits in your prospectus.
Deadlines and decisions
Deadline to apply for elective courses for 2019/2020 is August 27. The courses have limited spaces and students will be admitted to elective courses according to degree requirements and priorities.
Admission decisions will be announced in Studentweb by September 2.
Elective credit requirements and permissions
- Master students are permitted to add bachelor level electives of up to 10 ECTS credits.
- Students are permitted to exceed the credit requirement set out in the Prospectus and Curricula by 10 ECTS credits per academic year. Such extracurricular course selections are subject to availability, and will only be granted during the final sign-up for electives in August.

Planning a semester abroad?
You should still select and add elective courses to your academic plan at the Academy. If your application to go on exchange or a mobility programme is granted, the elective courses will automatically be dropped for the semester(s) that you will be away.
Have you completed courses at other institutions, or fulfilled credit requirements through approved seminars or classes outside the Norwegian Academy of Music?
