About
Our concert features two works that involve much intertwining and conversing between each instrumental part. Beethoven’s Serenade in D major for string trio serves as a charming opening to the evening, historically used for light entertainment in social settings. We expand our conversation with yet another instrument as we move on to 1842, the year where Robert Schumann composes his first major chamber music works. One of these pieces would end up becoming a cornerstone in the repertoire for its intended setting: the beloved Piano Quartet in Eb major, Op. 47.
