Guro von Germeten (she/her) was awarded her PhD in 2023 from the Norwegian Academy of Music, Centre for Educational Research in Music, with a doctoral research focusing on the pluralities of vocal tastes, vocal aesthetics, and vocal behaviours within contemporary musical theatre. She is currently a post doctoral researcher at the academy, as part of MishMash, Centre for AI and Creativity. As a singer and an authorized Complete Vocal Technique teacher specializing in voice for stage and cross-training of the voice, von Germeten brings strong practical experience to her academic pursuits. von Germeten’s recent academic contributions include writings on ‘vocal omnivorousness’ and ‘the omnivorous voice,’ the role of original cast recordings in shaping contemporary musical theatre performers and performances, the significance and role of taste within artistic processes and within creating vocal behaviours and processes of voice and gender in contemporary voice education.
