MishMash – Center for AI and Creativity

The Academy of Music contributes to MishMash, one of six new national research centers in artificial intelligence (AI). The award comes as part of the government's AI billion NOK grant, wich is planned to last for at least five years.

MishMash will work at the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) and creativity. Our primary goal is to create, explore and reflect on AI for, through and in creative practices. We will investigate the impact of AI on creative processes, develop co-creative AI systems and reflect on the ethical, cultural and societal implications of AI for creative professions.

The Norwegian Academy of Music is one of over twenty collaborators in the university and college sector contributing to MishMash. In addition, the National Library of Norway and several other strategic partners are involved. The project is led by the University of Oslo (UiO), Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences (INN), and the University of Agder (UiA).
