Guro von Germeten (hun/henne) tok doktorgraden ved Norges musikkhøgskole, Senter for musikkpedagogisk forskning (CERM), i 2023. Doktorgradsarbeidet hennes handlet om mangfoldet av vokal smak, vokalestetikk og vokalteknikker innenfor moderne musikkteater.
Hun er nå postdoktor ved Musikkhøgskolen, tilknyttet MishMash – senter for KI og kreativitet. Som sanger og autorisert Complete Vocal Technique-lærer med spesialisering i stemme for scenen og krysstrening av stemmen, bringer von Germeten solid praktisk erfaring inn i sitt akademiske arbeid.
Hennes nyere akademiske bidrag omfatter tekster om «vokal altetenhet» og «den altetende stemmen», om hvilken rolle originale cast-innspillinger spiller i formingen av utøvere og utøvelse innen musikkteater, om smakens betydning og rolle i kunstneriske prosesser og i utviklingen av vokalteknikker, og om stemme og kjønn i moderne vokalpedagogikk.
