Amen for the Birdsong

Amen for the Birdsong is Siiri Ylijoki's master recital, dedicated to the beauty and wonder of birds.

Siiri Ylijoki

The concert presents a captivating selection of chamber music, solo piano pieces, and songs that celebrate birdcalls, their natural habitats, and the joy and gratitude of existence—an idea reflected in Messiaen's Visions de l'Amen, where living beings express their gratitude for existence.

This recital marks the final chapter of Siiri's master project, a creative exploration into the world of insects and birds through curated concert programs. Earlier chapters include the solo piano recital Insektarium and trio concert Creatures Among Us, which explored beliefs and emotions surrounding these essential creatures.

Amen for the Birdsong highlights the birds that have enriched Siiri's time at the Norwegian Academy of Music and promises a poetic musical journey, celebrating the deep connection between art and nature.
