These questions form the foundation of this clarinet-chamber project, creating a recital that highlights the depth and variety of clarinet, violin, and piano music from the 20th century that is still rarely performed today.
This concert explores small-scale chamber music by composers who navigated the cultural aftermath of war and the search for identity in post-war Europe. Featuring pieces by Francis Poulenc (1899–1963), Einojuhani Rautavaara (1928–2016), Alban Berg (1885–1935), Galina Ustvolskaya (1919–2006) og Valentyn Silvestrov (1937–), among others, these composers, sharing a deeply expressive musical language, reflect on spiritual and philosophical themes that capture the complex emotional and cultural changes of their time.
