Huachi Torito

Adrian Lara presents folk music from Peru, with the bull as theme.

Adrian Lara

The bull is an animal that is always present in Spanish-speaking culture. This is expressed in various artistic expressions (sculpture, poetry, music ...) and in a number of complex symbologies ranging from the sacred and tragic to the devilish. In Peru, for example, the bull has taken root in many ways, and for visitors, the picturesque little bulls in Pucará are perhaps the most well-known. The concert is suitable for all ages and is an attempt to share a repertoire that is not so well known outside of Peruvian music culture. Regional instruments such as waqrapuku, tinya, or charango will be used and give wings to your imagination or perhaps comfort to the nostalgia of homesickness.

This time, we have the pleasure of having Camilo Pajuelo as a guest. Camilo is a specialist in the guitar traditions of the Andes and has been a student of Raul García Zárate. In addition, we have multi-instrumentalist Edgar Albitres with us, an experienced folk musician based in Oslo.

The concert is in collaboration with the Peruvian embassy in Norway and the audience is invited to taste samples of Peruvian food after the concert. Welcome!
