About Eva Beneke

German guitarist Eva Beneke earned a Doctorate of Musical Arts at the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles in 2012 and studied at the Franz Liszt Hochschule in Weimar, Germany. She has won prizes at international guitar competitions in The Netherlands, Italy and the USA and has performed on internationally broadcast radio and television programs.

Highlights of her career include appearances with the German Symphony Orchestra under Kent Nagano, the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra and invitations to festivals in Peru, Mexico, Germany, Lithuania, the USA, China and Thailand as well as a televised performance with famed singer Carrie Underwood. Beneke's latest album is a NAXOS recording of Fernando Sor's "Complete Works for Voice and Guitar" with mezzo-soprano Nerea Berraondo and was released in 2017.

In the fall of 2018, Eva was appointed Associate Professor of guitar at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo.

"Eva Beneke next took the stage and took us in an entirely different direction and new heights. She captured the profundity and the joy of Bach in two of her own transcriptions of his music for solo violin and cello and then poured her heart into one of her own compositions. She is a musician to be reckoned with, and we will hear more from her in the future." Brantford Expositor, Canada 9 February 2012.

"These performances are anything but boring. Eva Beneke's playing is…consistently beautiful, sensitive and expressive, with a flawless technical command". American Record Guide, 2018.
