Do the soft sounds of the guitar attract idealists who can teach us to listen out for nuances that are easily lost in today’s noisy world?

The main focus of the classical guitar programme is on the main solo repertoire and ensemble performance. Yet we also touch upon the rest of the guitar repertoire, ranging from early music to contemporary. As chamber musicians, guitar students perform in guitar-only ensembles and in groups with other instruments. Participating in concerts at and outside the academy provides valuable stage experience.

Eminent foreign guitarists visit regularly to give masterclasses and concerts. We undertake excursions to other educational institutions and guitar festivals abroad, and every year the academy holds a conference for classical guitarists and teachers.

The guitar teachers have extensive teaching and performing experience, and numerous past and present students have won prizes in international guitar competitions in recent years.

Lute and romantic guitar lessons are optional.

Exchange opportunities

The Academy has exchange agreements with European music academies, allowing students to complete parts of their studies abroad.
