Our Ensembles

The Academy's ensembles stage a variety of concerts in numerous genres. Their members are primarily NMH students, but teachers, as well as students from other music institutions, are also involved.

Christiania Blåseensemble

Christiania Blåseensemble (CBE) is a first-class wind band comprising NMH students past and present. The ensemble was formed in 2008 by students at the Norwegian Academy of Music with a view to giving students and musicians the opportunity to perform wind band repertoire with a top-quality ensemble.

Ensemble Allegria

Their passion for music drove students to form the string orchestra Ensemble Allegria. Allegria means happiness and joy in Italian. It was that very joy of performing together which led a group of music students to set up the orchestra in 2007.

Full Hals

The Full Hals vocal ensemble mixes jazz, gospel and contemporary vocal improvisation and puts on concerts with broad public appeal. The ensemble is made up of jazz voice students from the Norwegian Academy of Music and was established as a separate course at the academy in 2005.

The Chamber Choir

The Academy's chamber choir performs the most important choral work of all time.

Nordic Harmony

Nordic Harmony – expressiveness and presence.

The Sinfonietta

The Academy's Sinfonietta gives students and audiences an introduction to contemporary music.

The big band

The Academy's "Storband" plays jazz in a large format. Our largest jazz ensemble has already made a name for itself on the Norwegian music scene.

The Symphony Orchestra

The Academy's Symphony Orchestra is a full symphony orchestra and the Academy's flagship.
