Omtale

Simon Røttingen: nøct

The material of this piece is linearity, with its temporal qualities, and stasis and its spacial qualities. Follow the line. A quiet line, a focused line, a broken line, a sour line, a lonely line, an augmented line, a dramatic line.

Simon says about the piece:

– I did not plan on writing music about the night, a “nøctyrne”. Yet, I found that having a poetic image, or an uniting extramusical character, opened up new possibilities of reimagining the material I already was working with. Is the night concentrated or relaxed? Is the night quiet or loud? Is the night active or static?
