Music and public health

Music and public health – a baseline study on music as health resource for people.

Music is an art form that in every known society gives people aesthetic experiences, which both strengthens the individual and promotes the social and cultural community. But music also has a number of positive "side effects". This study examines one of these closer, namely the health value of music and musical experiences.

The study will combine an epidemiological study, in which 10,000 adults Danes are invited to answer questions about his musical behaviour and health, with a depth interview study of 25 people and their use of music to promote their own health.

The project will be carried out in cooperation between CREMAH and the music section at Aalborg University and Statens Institut for Folkesundhed in Denmark.
