The programme aims at developing broad musical expertise, where the music teacher is familiar with the major trends in the field and can work in a wide variety of schools with different groups of students in areas including reading music, ear training and improvisation-based traditions.
Many PPU students become teachers in schools of the arts, primary schools or secondary schools, and most professional performers also work as teachers as a supplement to performing activities. So it is a great advantage to have a background in music education.
A graduate of the PPU programme holds formal teaching qualifications and is qualified to work in primary and secondary schools and schools of the arts.
