In the recent years, new courses and models have emerged at the Nordic music education institutions related to artistic inquiry and reflection. One sees the need in performance education to strengthen awareness and reflection on artistic choices, musician's role, aesthetic positions and contextual understanding.
CEMPE established in 2019 a think tank where teachers running artistic research based courses in the Scandinavian countries, met to exchange experiences, teaching resources and study plan models, and discussed the potential of development in artistic research based performance education on bachelor and master levels.
Among the dissemination and results from the group, were a Scandinavian seminar in 2020, a digital resource bank for students about artistic research (Skuba), and articles/texts on the topic.
