How can we understand the processes of institutionalization of Norwegian music therapy?
Summary
Music Therapy in Norway has over the last years strengthened its position both as discipline and profession, and is expanding its areas of practice. In this process, music therapy is introduced to and practiced within different institutional frameworks and organizations. Therefore, one could assume that in order to succeed in this expansive development, an understanding of how music therapy as profession and discipline relates to its institutional and organizational context is required. This study contributes with exploring different processes of institutionalization of music therapy in Norway.
The dissertation
The dissertation is titled (translated from Norwegian): Gaps and meaning-making. Legitimisation and institutionalisation of music therapy in Norwegian organisational contexts.
It comprises three articles and an introduction. Articles 1 and 3 are written in English, while article 2 and the synopsis are written in Norwegian.
