Musical Life Stories

"Musical Life Stories. Narratives on Health Musicking" is a qualitative research project. A central aim is to make visible how music in general has become an important part of people’s everyday lives and the way they are using music to take care of their wellbeing and life quality.

Summary

Musical life stories from persons from different practices and experiences have been collected, among them musicians, youth, persons with long term sickness absences, persons with mental handicaps, and persons who have experienced life crisis.

The material has been collected through different methodologies including interviews, autobiographies, diaries, focus groups , and observations, while several different theoretical perspectives are represented.

Documentation

The research is published in a book called Musical Life Stories. Narratives on Health Musicking (2013)

15 original papers are written by authors from eight different countries, for instance, Norway, Denmark, England, Germany, and Australia.
